EILEEN’S STORY
January 2020 I was in a bad place with my health.
High blood pressure, Diabetes, IBS, back pain, fibromyalgia, insomnia. I was just so tired all the time.
I felt really depressed and worried about my health and my weight. I was sad about all the things I couldn’t do and there just didn’t seem to be an end to the pain and feeling unwell.
A visit to the GP would just result in more medication, I was never actually asked how I felt about myself.
I had been a member of all the slimming clubs out there, (more than once in some cases) and have tried all the crazy fad diets. I would lose some weight initially, but I would just put it back on – and more – I thought this was the only way to help myself. Other than joining a slimming club, what else is there?
I have a fantastic chiropractor, Marie Vossen, who suggested I saw Karen for an informal chat and from that moment I felt I had the control back.
I had decided that now was the time for me to sort myself out once and for all and enrolled in a 12 week wellness programme with Karen.
My first meeting went really well, I felt comfortable and thought Karen knows just how I feel, she explained what was going on with my body and why certain foods did not help with my health problems.
I had an open mind with regards to trying new foods and using a completely different outlook, and I haven’t found changing my foods difficult, it’s been fun trying new foods and ways of cooking,
The 12 week programme included weekly support calls which always left me feeling motivated. We would have a chat about how I felt, what’s working, what the week ahead looked like, and what strategies to use to manage social events (I was able to enjoy a meal out and the odd glass of fizz too!)
We wouLd talk about new alternative foods and products to use and try, and any recipes I needed.
It’s honestly been an education working with Karen.
I have learnt how different foods can affect my body, blood test results, my energy levels and my mood. I now know how to avoid foods that are not good for me, and which alternatives make me feel good.
I have achieved consistent weight loss and I am now 10 kilos lighter than I was 12 months ago – 7 of those I have lost on this programme, which is more than I have lost with any slimming club. And the weight loss is still continuing.
I have less pain, more energy and I am sleeping through the night as I don’t have cramp all the time. I feel so much better in myself and the depression has lifted. This has given me the motivation to exercise daily.
In addition to all this, I have lowered my blood sugars and my blood pressure!
My health has vastly improved – in fact the doctor thought they had received the wrong blood results for me, but it just shows what 12 weeks can do!
I would recommend this program to anyone who has tried the majority of slimming clubs.
This is so easy to do! Eating real foods that are good for your body, making you feel more energised and lifting your mood, it really is worth trying!
The support from Karen has been great throughout, keeping me motivated and talking though any issues, with lots of ideas and recipes to try. The 12 weeks have just flown by.
I will never need to join another slimming club as this is my new lifestyle, paying weekly fees and buying diet foods are just a waste of money.
I am so happy to have changed the foods I eat and I have no desire to return to foods that made me feel ill and tired and running to the loo 8–10 times a day.
Slimming clubs are not the solution and don’t explain how you can help yourself by changing to healthy non- processed foods. Slimming clubs and ‘diets’ are a one size fits all model and don’t treat people as individuals!
